Mailbox Monday & What Are You Reading

This is a weekly meme hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page. Join the fun and post what you got in your mailbox last week!

I will broke this week and I went and bought a few books at my local used bookstore. What can I say, bookstores relax me and after a stressful afternoon, I broke and went lol.

Pride and Prejudice- Jane Austen (bought. Unfortunately it's abridged. I had no idea these existed so when I saw it, I thought okay going to give Austen a try and grabbed it. It wasn't until I got home and saw the abridged on the back. Who knows maybe it will be the best choice for the struggling Austen reader.)

Persuasion - Jane Austen (bought. I also grabbed this one. I just recently watched the Masterpiece Classic and loved it, so thought I'd give it a try also)

A Certain Slant of Light - Laura Whitcomb (bought)

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows (bought)

Arcadia Falls - Carol Goodman (Library Thing Early Reviewers)

How Clarissa Burden Learned to Fly - Connie May Flower (Hachette for Blog Tour)

It's Monday! What are you reading this week? Hosted by Sheila at One Person's Journey Through A World of Books. This is a meme to list the books completed last week, the books currently being read, and the books to be finished this week.

I love the cover for your version of Pride & Prejudice! I've never read an abridged version though so I don't know how different it will be. It would be interesting to compare the 2 versions :o)

I hope you enjoy all your books this week!

I really enjoyed the Guernsey book; hope you will too! And yay Jane Austen! I didn't realize they abridged her works but I know some people think nothing happens in her books so perhaps it trims down those areas? Good luck with Persuasion; those two are probably my favorites but it's difficult for me to choose!

I love Persuasion and Guernsey, and really like Pride & Prejudice. It's not long; it's odd that they abridged it. I've been looking at some of the other ones you got. Enjoy your books!

Here are my books for the week.

How are you enjoying the Swan Thieves? I can't wait to get a copy of that audiobook. I love Treat Williams and being able to listen to him in my ears would be fantastic. I hope the story is good.

I love Jane Austen's books and you have two of my faves to read. I hope that you enjoy both of them even though P&P is abridged. I also really liked A Certain Slant of Light and I loved the Guernsey book. I hope that you enjoy all your books and have a great reading week.

I have the Swan Thieves but haven't started it yet. I enjoyed The Historian so much that I had to get it. I haven't written my review for The Poacher's Son yet. I will be working on that tomorrow. I have heard good things about Arcadia Falls and I love Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion. I am a Jane Austen fan. I actually own the movies as well. Have fun reading.

Wow, your reading so many good books! I can't wait to read the reviews and hear your opinions. Happy reading!

PS Keep trying with the Austeen. It's well worth it!

I also received the Clarissa Burden book and hope to read Persuasion this year. I think the abridged version is a good choice if you have trouble reading Austen. When I read Sanditon recently, I kept reminding myself to slow down and pay attention so I could understand everything she was getting at.

I hope you love Guernsey as much as I did!
