I will broke this week and I went and bought a few books at my local used bookstore. What can I say, bookstores relax me and after a stressful afternoon, I broke and went lol.
Pride and Prejudice- Jane Austen (bought. Unfortunately it's abridged. I had no idea these existed so when I saw it, I thought okay going to give Austen a try and grabbed it. It wasn't until I got home and saw the abridged on the back. Who knows maybe it will be the best choice for the struggling Austen reader.)
Persuasion - Jane Austen (bought. I also grabbed this one. I just recently watched the Masterpiece Classic and loved it, so thought I'd give it a try also)
A Certain Slant of Light - Laura Whitcomb (bought)
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows (bought)
Arcadia Falls - Carol Goodman (Library Thing Early Reviewers)
How Clarissa Burden Learned to Fly - Connie May Flower (Hachette for Blog Tour)

Will be interesting to see what you think of the Certain Slant of Light book.
I cant wait for your review on Swan Thieves. :) I think the book I am reading right now is by Bill Walker... I will have to check that out.
What a cover on A Certain Slant of Light -love it; enjoy
Oh wow, they all sound amazing... Can't wait to get stuck into reading the reviews :-)
I love the cover for your version of Pride & Prejudice! I've never read an abridged version though so I don't know how different it will be. It would be interesting to compare the 2 versions :o)
I hope you enjoy all your books this week!
I really enjoyed the Guernsey book; hope you will too! And yay Jane Austen! I didn't realize they abridged her works but I know some people think nothing happens in her books so perhaps it trims down those areas? Good luck with Persuasion; those two are probably my favorites but it's difficult for me to choose!
I love Persuasion and Guernsey, and really like Pride & Prejudice. It's not long; it's odd that they abridged it. I've been looking at some of the other ones you got. Enjoy your books!
Here are my books for the week.
All of your books look good, but A Certain Slant of Light catches my eye. Enjoy!
How are you enjoying the Swan Thieves? I can't wait to get a copy of that audiobook. I love Treat Williams and being able to listen to him in my ears would be fantastic. I hope the story is good.
I love Jane Austen's books and you have two of my faves to read. I hope that you enjoy both of them even though P&P is abridged. I also really liked A Certain Slant of Light and I loved the Guernsey book. I hope that you enjoy all your books and have a great reading week.
I need to read The Guernsey book as everyone seems to love it.
Enjoy your books!
The Guernsey book was loved by so many & sits on my floor waiting to be read, sooo sad! I hope you love it too, maybe it'll be the push I need to get me to read mine LOL. I need to add some Austen to my library too. Have an awesome week!
Ooh Arcadia Falls is so good! Happy reading. My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.
You had a nice week in books! I love Guernsey and hated when it ended. Happy reading!
I enjoyed Guernsey! I hope you do too. Arcadia Falls looks interesting. Enjoy all your new reads!

They all look very good. You got a great week ahead of you, reading all those wonderful Austen books. :) A Certain Slant of Light had some great reviews, cant wait to read that one too. :)
Enjoy your week!
Some great sounding books there, and an early reviewer as well. Sounds like a great catch here. Hope you have a great week!

Wow, you had a great mailbox! I'm still trying to finish off The Swan Thieves on audio. It's pretty long.
You got such a nice mailbox. I hope you enjoy Guernsey as much as I did. Fabulous read! Have a great week and happy reading.
Fantastic Mailbox books and a brilliant book selection to read. Happy reading this week.
Good luck with the Austen books. My MM is here.
I loved P&P! I've had Guernsey on my shelf forever but haven't read it yet. Great shelf-happy reading!
I have seen The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society around and the reviews make me want to grab it!
I have the Swan Thieves but haven't started it yet. I enjoyed The Historian so much that I had to get it. I haven't written my review for The Poacher's Son yet. I will be working on that tomorrow. I have heard good things about Arcadia Falls and I love Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion. I am a Jane Austen fan. I actually own the movies as well. Have fun reading.
A Certain Slant of Light has a absolutely gorgeous cover and I hope you enjoy your Austen splurge.
They all sound great! Happy reading!
I've never read a Jane Austen book, hmmmm....maybe one of these days! I hope that you have a great reading week! Here is mine for this week: http://ruthiesbookreviews.blogspot.com/2010/03/its-monday-what-are-you-reading_22.html
Wow, your reading so many good books! I can't wait to read the reviews and hear your opinions. Happy reading!
PS Keep trying with the Austeen. It's well worth it!
I also received the Clarissa Burden book and hope to read Persuasion this year. I think the abridged version is a good choice if you have trouble reading Austen. When I read Sanditon recently, I kept reminding myself to slow down and pay attention so I could understand everything she was getting at.
I hope you love Guernsey as much as I did!
