Synopsis

Jazz . . . Booze . . . Boys . . . It’s a dangerous combination.

Every girl wants what she can’t have. Seventeen-year-old Gloria Carmody wants the flapper lifestyle—and the bobbed hair, cigarettes, and music-filled nights that go with it. Now that she’s engaged to Sebastian Grey, scion of one of Chicago’s most powerful families, Gloria’s party days are over before they’ve even begun . . . or are they?

Clara Knowles, Gloria’s goody-two-shoes cousin, has arrived to make sure the high-society wedding comes off without a hitch—but Clara isn’t as lily-white as she appears. Seems she has some dirty little secrets of her own that she’ll do anything to keep hidden. . . .

Lorraine Dyer, Gloria’s social-climbing best friend, is tired of living in Gloria’s shadow. When Lorraine’s envy spills over into desperate spite, no one is safe. And someone’s going to be very sorry. . . .

From debut author Jillian Larkin, VIXEN is the first novel in the sexy, dangerous, and ridiculously romantic new series set in the Roaring Twenties . . . when anything goes.

My Thoughts:

This book was a little difficult getting into at first. I don't often read much historical type fiction. Once it got going however, I found myself getting involved with all of the characters and their stories.

I enjoyed most of the characters and there were a few I absolutely despised. I liked Clara the best. At first I wasn't sure if I would but as the story played out, I decided her character was solid. Gloria came next. I loved her passion and her need to break free of what society deemed was appropriate for her. I can totally relate to what she was feeling throughout the book.

I can say i enjoyed the book enough that I will be checking out the next book in the series to see what happens next.

I didn't think this book was something for me but reading your thoughts on it make me think twice. I do enjoy seeing movies on tv about the flapper time frame. :) Thanks for the review.

This looks really good. As a historical fiction fan, it's definitely one for my list, especially with good characters to relate to! Thanks for the review!
