Synopsis

It takes a strong woman to keep the peace in a city of endless night. . . .

Deep beneath Underground, a cunning bid for power and revenge has begun—one that threatens to make Atlanta the new battleground in the ultimate confrontation between good and evil. The powers of hellish Charbydon have the upper hand after plunging the city into primordial night. And under the cover of darkness, a serial killer targets the most powerful Elysians in the city, the angelic Adonai. For Detective Charlie Madigan and her siren partner Hank, tracking deadly predators is all in a day’s work . . . but this case will test the limits of their strength and friendship as it draws them into a deadly world of power plays, ancient myths, explosive secrets, and a race against time that risks all that Charlie holds dear.

My Thoughts:

It took me longer to get into this book than it did the first. I'm not sure why. I was a good storyline and I still liked the characters. I think my problem is trying to remember the various creatures and what they can or can't do. I'm having an issue juggling all of them.

With that said, I enjoy Kelly's storytelling. She got a fantastic way of pulling the story together. Hank is by far my favorite of the characters. I love his sense of humor and let's not forget he's just a tad bit of a hunk as well. Always a plus heh.

We get to learn more about Charlie's daughter, Emma, in this book. I really enjoyed that part. It appears we might be seeing more of her in the future and I am looking forward to that. I love her personality. Like mother, like daughter...

All in all, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Kelly.

Great review. I know the feeling about taking a while to get into series books. I have been running into that a lot lately. Sometimes, all the worlds blur together. I really like waiting for a series to be a few books in before reading, but that is hard to do with all these new titles.

I loved Kelly's first book and will be checking this out. Glad to hear her writing is still top notch. Thanks for the review.
